unipro® lighting tracks in the Ratina Shopping Center
In April 2018, the largest shopping centre in Tampere, Ratina, was opened in the city centre. This also meant that Tampere gained a new landmark, the Periscope restaurant located on the top levels of the centre. The windows and roof terrace of the restaurant look onto the city centre and the Pyhäjärvi lake.
The Ratina shopping centre consists of three separate buildings, Valo-Ratina, Ranta-Ratina and Funkkis-Ratina. Valo-Ratina is a new building, whereas Ranta-Ratina and Funkkis-Ratina are 1930s functionalist buildings that have been recently renovated.
The 102nd shopping centre in Finland offers a versatile selection of services from shopping to leisure time activities. Ratina aims at being a meaningful, communal space, a natural meeting place for people.
In Tampere, Ratina is in line with the current trend of emphasising the experiences people have in shopping centres – consumers must be attracted to the shopping centre.
The Ratina shopping centre is the only shopping centre in Pirkanmaa to offer its customers a free child-minding service on Saturdays. In “Mini-Ratina,” children get to play under supervision while their parents or guardians have the opportunity to do their shopping without having to worry.
There is an impressive 53,000 m² of premises for rent. The new centre, home to some 140 stores, serves approximately 8 million visitors annually.
“The Ratina shopping centre is beautiful, airy and bright, and the entire Ratina area in general is a true gem in Tampere. Ratina gives us a sneak-peek into the future, when a deck and high-rises built on top of the nearby railway tracks are going to make the Tampere skyline pop,” says Unipro’s Area Sales Manager Teija Haapa-aho.
Restaurants for different needs
There is no danger of having to roam the shopping centre hungry, because there are restaurants to suit every taste on various levels of the centre. The nearly thirty restaurants and coffee houses in the Ratina shopping centre are sure to quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger. unipro® lighting tracks have been installed in the cosy Espresso House, the laid-back Fafa’s and the stylish Hanko Sushi - just to name a few.
Fashion and necessities
At Halonen, you can let yourself be inspired and enthused by everyday fashion, as the store’s selection is spread over approximately 2,500 square metres of retail space. Since 1932, Halonen has become one of Finland’s largest independent fashion enterprises. The classic white unipro® lighting track was selected for the Halonen store in Ratina. The surface-mounted 3-phase track and the MEK lighting suspension rails are featured on two levels.
Luhta Sports Company, offering modern Nordic design for active lifestyles, and the Finnish active wear store Top Sport are among sites with comprehensive unipro® installations in the Ratina shopping centre.
K-supermarket Ratina, calling itself the best quality grocery store in Tampere, might just have gotten it right. The store has a food market hall feel to it and service counters groaning with delicacies. The lighting selected for the daily consumer goods store, unipro® surface-mounted white lighting tracks, brings the colours out and highlights the atmosphere in just the right way.
